User Reviews about Citizen Men's BN0000-04H Eco-Drive Professional Diver Black Rubber Strap Watch

I've worn this watch for about four years now, and paid more $ for it on sale at a dept store. Typical Citizen Promaster high quality, though slight differences in design from the traditional scuba style you see. The convex crystal has a real lens like quality, making the face appear rather reflective, along with it's chrome edged markers and hands. The lume on the hands and markers is stunning. Always glowing a seafoam green-even indoors. The circumference of the markers is small and the lugs are short. This gives the watch a real compact appearance even though it's just over 40mm.(An other reviewer described viewing the face as looking through a porthole-a great description). The date window at 3:00 is no bigger than the other markers,so the face has a clean, undisturbed look. However, this also means the window is rather small. I prefer the traditional arrow style hands of a diver over this more decorative style. However, from any distance other than close up, they basically do look like the arrow style hands,so it's not a problem for me. I loathed the band it came with. Not the rubber band itself, but the "No Decompression" chart that was printed on it. I prefer the undisturbed black rubber band look on a scuba. It was no problem getting an undecorated replacement rubber strap for it so now I think it's gorgeous.(Other people love that printed chart, though!) Keeps perfect time, and I have never made any effort to expose the watch to light to charge the ecodrive battery-it stays charged from normal light exposure just wearing it. I truly love this scuba.I hope this review helps, and that you find a watch that you love as much as I love this one. -- Outrageous value for the price
I've had this watch for about three years now. Based on the text of the reviews some people who have criticized this watch clearly do not even own it (One reviewer complained their metal band broke...well this watch has a rubber wrist strap that is comfortable and nearly indestructable, so that reviewer is full of baloney.)

I have taken this watch swimming, hiking, diving in the rain, snow, and water in Yosemite, Big Sur, Maui, Kuai, Catalina and even the Dead Sea..yes that's right the Dead Sea!

I have never had a problem with it. When we go camping it just stays on my wrist 24/7 in the pool, in the shower and in the ocean.

The face and hands are easy to read during daylight, underwater and in darkness. The glow-in-the-dark feature works for about 15 minutes after full darkness and then is easily recharged with a flashlight shined on the face for about 15 seconds.

The watch has an internal battery that is charged with a solar cell built into the face and never needs winding, however you do need to trot it out into the sunlight for an hour or so once a week to keep the battery charged. The reviewer who complained his battery went dead clearly did not read the directions, perhaps does not know what a solar cell is, or does not own this watch. This battery charging mechanism is pure genius on the part of Citizen. I own two watches that use this mechanism and neither has had a single performance issue EVER.

I used to buy SEIKO watches and while they are more elegant and compact, I had to change the battery about every 18-20 months (at a watchmaker so the water-proof seal is properly maintained) and the crystals were fragile and scratched easily. These ECO-Drive watches are built like tanks (warning-they are bulky and heavy) but they just keep working.

Buy this watch! -- Super Watch
This watch is great. Very easy to read except the date. The should've put another dot instead of the date.
It worked fine in the ocean while surfing. I didn't try it under water.
At least it's a true waterproof watch. Not like those that show 100M in the dial and a warning while washing hands in the manual. -- Good and simple
So. Citizen Eco Drive. What else is there more to say about a solar powered motor that won't quit on yah? Needless to say I'm use to reviewing watches that have a butt load of features; however there are times when collector's like my self prefer to wear a watch that's no hassle and very simple to operate. Let's start with the looks. Brushed stainless steel case; black dial. I can't even put the look of the hands into writing they're just awesome. The ratcheting bezel also doesn't have a cheap clicking feel to it; it needs a nice amount of force that it needs in order for the bezel to spin. Now let's talk about readability. The hour markers are quite big but that is standard on a dive watch such as this. Also at night this thing has glowed for about 8 hours from extremely bright to just enough to see. The date window is a tad bit small, I would agree on making it a tad bigger but I got use to it. That's not the reason for the 4 star rating. I'm normally use to giving watches 5 stars. It's the factory band that makes wearing this thing a bit uncomfortable; the ridges in the design dug into my wrist causing some chafing: this is the reason for the 4 star rating. I had to switch the band out for a Maratac Zulu dive strap. Once that was done it became a 5 star watch for it's functionality, easy operation, solar power motor, and not to mention my favorite part: it's 300 meter water resistance making it one of my grail watches to own; especially for a price this is placed at. Watches rated at 300m or 1000 feet normally go for a pretty penny. -- This one's a keeper!
